Will Borgen Out Day-to-Day With Upper-Body Injury
The Rangers may be without steady defender Will Borgen this weekend, with Matthew Robertson stepping in and a call-up likely coming.
The New York Rangers could be without defenseman Will Borgen this weekend after he missed today's practice with an upper-body injury.
He isn't always at the forefront of the headlines, but Will Borgen has been a steady presence on the back end for the Rangers throughout the start of the season. Despite picking up a goal in the team's most recent outing in Tampa, it appears that Borgen is nursing an injury and could be at risk for missing some time this weekend.
Here's how the team lined up at practice today without him.

Perreault - Zibanejad - Miller
Panarin - Trocheck - Lafrenière
Cuylle - Laba - Sheary
Edström - Carrick - Raddysh
Gavrikov - Fox
Soucy - Schneider
Vaakanainen - Robertson
The defense looks much thinner with Borgen out of the picture but judging from the practice lines, it appears Matthew Robertson will slot in his place. In the event he is unable to go, the Rangers will surely need to call up a seventh defenseman for the weekend. That call-up would likely be one of Connor Mackey or Scott Morrow. If it's Mackey, it's probable he'll just serve as an extra skater but with the back-to-back on deck, there's a chance Scott Morrow could see at least one game if he becomes the call-up.
Rangers Coach Mike Sullivan did say that he is listed as day-to-day and would not rule him out for the weekend but considering he didn't participate in practice could mean he'll miss at least tomorrow's game against Columbus.
Asked Sullivan if he's planning to not have Borgen for tomorrow's game. He emphasized that he's day-to-day and didn't rule out him playing. #NYR https://t.co/9Mu1D7Brv1
