After a thrilling victory last night, the Hartford Wolf Pack got right back to work on Saturday night. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins welcomed them back to Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza for a rematch of Friday night's contest.

However, a three-goal first period for the home side was too much for the Wolf Pack to overcome. The Penguins withstood a push from Hartford to take a 4-1 decision and split the weekend.

The Penguins would jump out to a commanding lead in the opening frame. Gabe Klassen was first, taking advantage of a delay of game call against Brandon Scanlin by sneaking a shot past Callum Tung on the short side.

Tristan Broz followed up, finding space in the slot and ripping a shot through the Hartford netminder just over the halfway point of the period.

The home side capped off the scoring barrage in the final minutes of the frame as Rafaël Harvey-Pinard banked a shot off Brendan Brisson that found the back of the net. The Penguins would take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Wolf Pack would finally respond just 1:27 into the second period. Brisson worked into the Penguin zone and attempted a centering feed for Anton Blidh. The veteran Swede was pushed away from the puck, but Trey Fix-Wolansky was there to collect the loose change. Fix-Wolansky went to the backhand and flipped a shot over a diving Joel Blomqvist to get the Wolf Pack on the board.

The goal was Fix-Wolansky's team-leading 12th goal and 21st point of the campaign.

The Wolf Pack continued to press in the second period, but Blomqvist made a number of impressive stops to prevent them from getting any closer. Finn Harding would reinstate the three-goal margin with a tap-in tally just over the halfway point of the period, and the Penguins took the 4-1 lead into the second intermission.

Can't Catch Up

The Wolf Pack pushed hard in the final period, edging the Penguins in shots by a 9-4 margin. They'd get a spark as Jackson Dorrington dropped the gloves with Chase Pietila early in the third period.

The tilt was Dorrington's second fighting major of the year – his first came against Springfield's Dylan Peterson in a 6-3 Wolf Pack win over the Thunderbirds on October 25th, 2025.

Hartford got plenty of chances in the final frame, with their best coming from Connor Mackey, who rung the goal post. However, the Wolf Pack just couldn't solve Blomqvist, allowing the Penguins to take a 4-1 decision and split the weekend series.
