Game #29: New York Rangers vs Vegas Golden Knights Open Thread

After losing a heartbreaker on home ice two night ago, the Rangers are set to kick off their west coast road trip in the Sin City tonight. The Blueshirts will head into T-Mobile Arena to take on the Vegas Golden Knights for the second time in a week, and look to avenge the 4-1 drubbing they suffered last Monday.

While the Rangers normally schedule the California road trip by itself and turn their flights into Vegas and Arizona into one trip, the league’s schedule makers have opted to change things up this season. The team’s four game road swing starts in Vegas tonight, and concludes Saturday afternoon in Anaheim, and a strong effort to kickstart their trip will go a long way towards a successful western swing for the Rangers.

The Blueshirts have only made two trips into T-Mobile Arena in the past. Alain Vigneault’s 17-18 squad fell by a 2-1 margin, while David Quinn’s 2018-19 team doubled both of those numbers en route to a 4-2 defeat. Perhaps the third time will be the charm for the Rangers.

Player to Watch: Pavel Buchnevich

After coming out on the wrong side of David Quinn’s selective Wheel of Justice against Montreal, Buchnevich can use tonight’s game as an opportunity to get back into his coach’s good graces. A strong effort tonight should keep Buchnevich on the ice for regular shifts for the time being, at least until Tuesday night’s contest.

Enjoy the game!
