Mika Zibanejad is skating again
Not just standing on the ice - he’s got sharp blades strapped to his feet!
Ever since Mika Zibanejad suffered a broken leg on Nov. 20, the New York Rangers have had to make due without his services. They’ve won more than they’ve lost, but no doubt it would be nice to have him back in the lineup.
We’ve seen him progress over the course of the past five weeks, going from shooting from the bench, to losing his walking boot and crutches, to standing on the ice feeding Pavel Buchnevich. But this is probably the most welcome sight of them all: Zibanejad, on the ice, skating.
He obviously isn’t going hard - except in his shot, that still looks (and sounds) great - but that’s a given, considering it’s been so long since he’s been on the ice properly.
Still, that’s a major step forward in his recovery. Zibanejad was slated to return to game action sometime in January. It’s probably going to take at least another couple of weeks, but this? This is definitely a sight for sore eyes.
