Rangers Recall Brett Berard, Place J.T. Miller on IR
Injuries and illness continue to test the Rangers’ depth, as J.T. Miller lands on IR and Brett Berard gets another NHL look ahead of a tough matchup in Washington.
After their loss in Music City to the Nashville Predators, the New York Rangers have made some roster moves. J.T. Miller, who suffered an upper-body injury in the game against Philadelphia and didn't make the trip to Nashville, was placed on injured reserve this morning. To pair with that, the team has recalled Brett Berard from the Hartford Wolf Pack after a two-game stint in the AHL.

The Rangers' captain had a slow start to the season but had started to pick it up as of late. In his last ten games, Miller has recorded eight points, including a three-point night against the Ottawa Senators. Miller is also tied for the league lead in overtime goals with three. With Miller set to miss time, the Rangers' top six continues to get thinner.
This is the second call-up for Berard this season. In his first stretch in the NHL, he played in 11 games and failed to record a point. He was then reassigned to the Wolf Pack as part of a move that brought up Gabe Perreault and Brennan Othmann. During his two games back with Hartford, Berard was held off the scoresheet, keeping his season total in the AHL at nine points.
Berard will also help the team as they get past the illness that has been going around the team. Artemi Panarin was the first, as he missed the team's overtime victory against the St. Louis Blues. Matt Rempe and Gabe Perreault were held out of the game against the Predators for the same reason.
Berard will be an option for the Rangers' next game against the Washington Capitals Tuesday night.
