Trocheck Back, Perreault Elevated in Rangers’ Lineup Overhaul
The Rangers are making major changes up front as Vincent Trocheck returns and Gabe Perreault gets a top-line shot against Nashville.
After another brutal home shutout—their fifth in eight home games—the New York Rangers will try to right the ship tonight against a struggling Nashville Predators squad. The good news: Reinforcements are finally on the way.
According to The Athletic’s Vince Mercogliano, Vincent Trocheck is expected to make his long-awaited return to the lineup after missing time since early October with an injury that landed him on LTIR. His return gives the Blueshirts a much-needed boost down the middle and should help jolt an offense that’s gone stagnant.

Gavrikov - Fox

Vaakanainen - Schneider
Trocheck’s presence also brings some intrigue up front. Top prospect Gabe Perreault, recalled yesterday from Hartford, is expected to slide into a reworked top six—and the familiar trio of Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, and Alexis Lafrenière looks to be reunited.
Trocheck said he’s had this date circled for a while as a game he was aiming to return. J.T. Miller jokingly (I think) told him, “We won’t need you on the road.” #NYR

Perreault missed a handful of games for the Wolf Pack this weekend with what he told New York Post beat writer Mollie Walker was "nothing bad," and "just a precautionary thing." Since his AHL assignment, he’s led Hartford with five goals and five assists for 10 points in nine games.
“I think I’ve been playing well,” Perreault told reporters. “It was really good for me to go down there [to Hartford], play a lot of minutes, and work on some little things I needed to improve. Hopefully it’ll translate.”
He’ll get a prime opportunity to show it tonight, skating on the top line alongside Mika Zibanejad and J.T. Miller.
The shake-up extends to the power play as well: Perreault is set to replace Conor Sheary on the second unit, with Lafrenière shifting into a net-front role.

Meanwhile, with Matt Rempe still sidelined, Sheary will drop to the fourth line alongside the returning Adam Edstrom and steady bottom-six center Sam Carrick.
