Wolf Pack Recap: Feels Good to Win
A few key performances from veterans helped the Wolf Pack get back in the win column this week.
Welcome to Wolf Pack Recap, a weekly column exclusively at Blueshirt Banter. Each week, we'll review the Hartford Wolf Pack's previous week, highlight top performances, and preview the upcoming slate.
It's been a road-heavy start to the 2026-27 season for the Hartford Wolf Pack, who are playing eight of their 12 games in October away from the PeoplesBank Arena. They made a brief stop in the Connecticut capital this weekend before embarking on a season-long eight game road trip.
The Wolf Pack split the weekend, picking up an exciting win at home on Friday night and dropping a heartbreaker on the road on Saturday night.
Let's take a look back at the Wolf Pack's week.
- Once again, it's good to be back at the PeoplesBank Arena. I made sure to enjoy Friday night's game, because the Wolf Pack won't be back at home until mid-November.
- Before Friday, we had a transaction. On Tuesday afternoon, the Wolf Pack loaned goaltender Gabriel Carriere to the ECHL's Worcester Railers.

- The Railers are an affiliate of the Springfield Thunderbirds and St. Louis Blues, but they've got three players under Wolf Pack contract on their roster. Carriere joins defensemen Cooper Moore and Anthony Kehrer in The Woo.
- Carriere's loan indicated that veteran netminder James Reimer, who inked a professional tryout agreement with the Wolf Pack on October 15, would be making his Hartford debut over the weekend.
- That was indeed the case, with Reimer getting the start on Friday night against the Providence Bruins.
- A stat from yours truly: Reimer only faced Hartford once in his career. That came on March 7, 2010, when his Toronto Marlies beat the Wolf Pack 3-2 in overtime in The Six. Kris Newbury and Donald Brashear had Hartford’s goals.
- A stat from the AHL: Reimer (38y, 222d) is the oldest goalie to play an AHL game since Manny Legace (39y, 70d) for the Springfield Falcons on 4/14/12.
- Another stat from yours truly: defenseman Matthew Robertson skated in his 256th game as a member of the Wolf Pack on Friday night. That moved him into sole possession of 10th most games played for Hartford all time, breaking a three-way tie with forward Dane Byers and defenseman, and former teammate, Brandon Scanlin.
Tonight, D Matthew Robertson will skate in his 256th game with the Wolf Pack.

- If Robertson plays three more games for the Wolf Pack, he'll pass defenseman Bryce Lampman for ninth place.
- Before Friday's game, the New York Rangers assigned forward Justin Dowling to the Wolf Pack after signing forward Luke Glendening to a one-year contract.
- Dowling didn't draw in on Friday night, but he'll be a big boost to Hartford's attack moving forward.
